“Dead Ringers”

It’s double trouble for Rachel Weisz as “The Favourite” star is hard at work on the upcoming Amazon Studios series “Dead Ringers.” Per an Instagram post, Weisz was spotted on set recently outside Grace Church in Greenwich Village for the series remake of the 1988 David Cronenberg film of the same name, which is making its way around the city. Signs were posted in the Village, via Twitter, for code name “Larry’s Diner,” the filming code for the project, through the end of October, as well as on the Upper West Side earlier in October. We reported back in August that “Hacks” breakout Poppy Liu and “Orange Is the New Black” star Michael Chernus were set to join the series opposite Weisz, who will play the dual lead roles of Elliot and Beverly Mantle, “twins who share everything: drugs, lovers, and an unapologetic desire to do whatever it takes, including pushing the boundaries on medical ethics in an effort to challenge antiquated practices and bring women’s healthcare to the forefront,” according to Variety. With Weisz, Liu, and Chernus will star Tia Barr, Jennifer Ehle, Emily Meade, Britne Oldford, Christina Brucato, and more. Alice Birch will write and executive produce. Susan Shopmaker is the casting director.
