Welcome to Rumorville! Here you can learn about casting news that’s about to break in Hollywood. These speculations might be only rumors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trail all the way to the audition room.
Wondering what’s on the development table this week? If you’re a fan of action series, then we’ve got big news for you. Ridley Scott confirmed this week that a pair of series based on “Blade Runner” and “Alien” are now in the pilot stage. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming pair of series.
A “Blade Runner” and “Alien” series are both in the works.
Two of cinema’s most influential movies are hopefully on their way to the small screen. Filmmaker Ridley Scott told the BBC earlier this week that he was currently working on live-action television series for both “Blade Runner” and “Alien.” “We [have already] written the pilot for ‘Blade Runner’ and the bible. So, we’re already presenting ‘Blade Runner’ as a TV show, the first 10 hours,” the “House of Gucci’ helmer told BBC Radio 4’s Today. Additionally, a pilot and bible for eight to 10 hours of an “Alien” series were also in the works. This is not the first time that news of an “Alien” series has popped up: we reported back in February 2019 that Hulu was working on such a project, and then, in December 2020 per Variety, there was the official news that FX would be working on a project with Noah Hawley attached as the showrunner. This is, however, the first time we have heard of a “Blade Runner” series. We will keep you updated if either project moves out of the pilot phase, but in the meanwhile, it’s best to keep your eye on casting director Kate Rhodes James, who handles most of Scott’s projects— find out how she finds the best talent for film and television here!
