Welcome to Rumorville! Here you can learn about casting news that’s about to break in Hollywood. These speculations might be only rumors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trail all the way to the audition room.

Earlier this week, news broke that Riz Ahmed and Lulu Wang have teamed up (and reteamed with Amazon!) for an adaptation of the novel “The Son of Good Fortune.” Along with this news,  “Reservation Dogs” co-creator Sterlin Harjo has already set plans for a heist— a new heist miniseries at FX, that is. Find out more about these new series in our Rumorville roundup.

“Son of Good Fortune” Is in Development.

Typically in front of the camera, Riz Ahmed is working on a new partnership behind the scenes. The Emmy winner’s Left Handed Films and “The Farewell” writer-director Lulu Wang’s Local Time banner are both now developing “The Son of Good Fortune” for Amazon. First reported by Variety, Andrew Lopez will adapt the comedy, which is based on Lysley Tenorio’s novel of the same name. It will reportedly follow “an undocumented Filipino teenager in the Bay area navigating a tumultuous relationship with his former B-movie action star mother, falling in love for the first time, and working out how to pay back a massive debt before his whole life crumbles.” This marks the first project since the ink dried on Left Handed and Amazon’s first-look TV deal that was signed back in January. It also marks new collaborations for both Ahmed and Wang with the streamer. Ahmed received multiple award nominations for his starring role in “Sound of Metal;” Wang is currently pulling quadruple duty as showrunner, writer, director, and executive producer on “Expats;” and Lopez is currently developing the feature “Slow Burn.”

A Native FX Heist Miniseries Is in the Works.

With the success of FX’s “Reservation Dogs,” co-creator Sterlin Harjo is already working on another project with the network. According to Variety, now in development is an untitled heist miniseries directed and co-written by Harjo with Jonathan Lee. While casting has not been announced at this time, the heist thriller will be centered around a Native woman. Angelique Midthunder is the casting director for “Reservation Dogs”— expect Harjo to collaborate with her and maybe some more of the show’s team for the new project.
