Welcome to Rumorville! Here you can learn about casting news that’s about to break in Hollywood. These speculations might be only rumors, but that doesn’t mean you can’t follow the trail all the way to the audition room.

“Tales of Dunk and Egg”
HBO is set to go on another adventure through Westeros. First reported by Variety, “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” a prequel to the events of “Game of Thrones,” is in early development at HBO. Based on the three-novella series by George R. R. Martin, the one-hour drama will follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and a young Aegon V Targaryen. Reps for HBO and for Martin have declined to comment, nor have a writing team or any talent been attached. This would be the second “Thrones” prequel to make it to screen if greenlit, following the forthcoming “House of the Dragon,” which is slated to premiere in 2022, and “The Long Night,” which was canceled before it made it to air. No announcements have been made about who is casting “House of the Dragon,” but Nina Gold was the casting director on “Game of Thrones.” While you wait for “Tales of Dunk and Egg” to hopefully make it to air, learn how to get involved with “House of the Dragon” here at Backstage!

Untitled Jason Statham-Guy Ritchie Action Thriller
Reported first by Deadline, Hugh Grant is in talks to join Guy Ritchie’s latest action-thriller at Miramax and STX. Formally known as “Five Guys,” the feature will follow an MI6 guns-and-steel agent who is recruited by a global intelligence agency and reluctantly paired with a CIA high-tech expert to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapons technology that threatens to disrupt the world order. Grant would star opposite Jason Statham, as well as Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett, and Cary Elwes. Ritchie and Grant, as well as writers Ivan Atkinson and Marm Davies, have previously worked together on the same studio’s “The Gentleman.” The film is being shot in Qatar and Turkey. A casting director has yet to be announced, but Lucinda Syson was the CD for “The Gentleman.”

“Batman: The Animated Series” Revival
On a recent episode of Kevin Smith’s “Fatman Beyond” podcast, co-host Marc Bernadin announced that HBO Max is looking at making a “Batman: The Animated Series” sequel, to which Smith confirmed the news by stating, “I’m not involved, but I too have heard this and I’ve heard this from very reliable people… I think that’s real, I don’t think that’s a rumor, I wouldn’t say ‘Set your watch to it,’ but it’s an idea whose time is not only coming, I think it came, and it’s smoking a cigarette.” A sequel-revival to the classic animated series would join the “Harley Quinn” animated series, which was acquired by the premium streamer. Smith continued to predict that a revival of the series could happen as soon as 2022, but we’re still waiting for an announcement from WarnerMedia.
