The 32nd Actor Awards have arrived! The only ceremony of the season voted on entirely by actors took place on March 1, live from L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall and streaming on Netflix.
Ryan Coogler's "Sinners" gained a ton of momentum heading into the Oscars on March 15th (where it is the most-nominated film of all time). The vampire epic took home the night's final two Actors: best performance by a cast in a motion picture and male actor in a lead role for Michael B. Jordan.
Earlier in the night, Jessie Buckley continued a dominant awards season with a female actor in a lead role win for "Hamnet," Amy Madigan won female actor in a supporting role for "Weapons," and Sean Penn nabbed male actor in a supporting role for "One Battle After Another."
On the TV side, “The Studio” led the night with three wins: performance by an ensemble in a comedy, male actor in a comedy series for Seth Rogen, and female actor in a comedy series for the late Catherine O'Hara.
"If you have people in your lives that don’t know her work, if they’re kids in your lives or just people who are out of touch or stupid or something, just show them O’Hara dancing to Harry Belafonte in 'Beetlejuice,'" Rogen said, accepting on O'Hara's behalf. "Show them O’Hara hurting her knee in 'Best in Show' and doing that amazing thing where she hobbles around. And tell the people, as they are laughing, that that’s Catherine O’Hara, and we were lucky that we got to live in a world where she so generously shared her talents with us.”
