A “Shang-Chi” Sequel and Disney+ Series Is in Development.
Following its success at the box office (and its reigning title of the top of the domestic box office for the year), we’re getting more “Shang-Chi.” According to Deadline, “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton has signed a multi-year deal with Marvel Studios and Onyx Collective, a Hulu subsidiary. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige told Deadline, “Destin is an amazing collaborator who brought a unique perspective and skill to ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.’ We had a fantastic time working together on the film and he has so many intriguing ideas for stories to bring to life on Disney Plus, so we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with him and can’t wait to get started.” The 2021 film starred Simu Liu in the titular role, as well as Tony Chiu-Wai Leung, Awkwafina, Ben Kingsley, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Michelle Yeoh, and more.
