Christian Savino, a skilled actor, model, brand ambassador, and influencer, has carved a notable path in the entertainment industry with his discipline, his strategic approach to building his brand, and opportunities he’s secured through Backstage . His portfolio boasts a range of projects, including commercial print work, UGC content creation, and social media and web ad campaigns.

Why entertainment?

Christian’s motivation to join the entertainment industry is deeply personal. "To prove to myself how far I can go with my brand. To see how many people truly support my journey and success,” he shared. “To appreciate the milestones and accomplishments that I make along my journey and how I can grow as a person, from the obstacles and hustle that someone in the entertainment industry commonly goes through."

What to do if you’re new around here

For those new to Backstage, Savino offers practical advice. "See if the platform works for you. Understand that there is a subscription fee involved, but it's one of those things where you have to spend money to make money," explaining that he’s earned back the cost of his Backstage subscription through the jobs he’s landing on the platform.

“Build your Backstage profile up the best you can with your photo and video portfolio materials, as well as your information and content from past projects that you've worked on,” he directed. “This will show your value and potential to jobs you submit to, which ideally will make people interested in working with you.”

For those starting their careers, Savino advised learning resilience. "Have a thick skin. Be confident in your talent and potential. Network as much as you can. Surround yourself with other driven professionals to grow together with. Trust the process,” he advised.

Preparation and networking

Savino's preparation for auditions and projects involves a holistic approach. "I like to maintain good daily habits and live an active and disciplined lifestyle to keep a sharp, focused mindset to deliver the best version of myself and adapt as needed for the production team,” he explained. He described how he does daily weight training, takes walks, eats healthy, and meditates, prioritizing getting good rest and staying busy. “If I have to provide a self-tape/audition, I take ample time to gather my thoughts and make sure I am in the ideal mindset to deliver the best version of myself that I can.”

Networking has played a crucial role in Savino's career strategy. He actively engages with industry professionals, sharing experiences and learning from others. "I ask questions and get to know the people that I'm around. I try to learn what they’re doing and what works for them,” he said. “I show my support and value to other industry professionals, and they show their support toward me in return."

Staying positive and flexible for the long haul

Acknowledging how challenging the industry can be and how much is out of your control, Savino remains committed to keeping a positive outlook. He recounted an experience where a gig was canceled at the last minute, though he was lucky enough to still be compensated for his time. The incident taught him the importance of professionalism and adaptability in an inherently unpredictable line of work.

Above all else–especially on the tough days–Savino counseled the power of having your own back.  "Always believe in yourself, be confident in your brand and don't worry about everyone respecting you and supporting you. If you support yourself, then you have your #1 supporter."
