A TV Series Is Casting Its Female Lead + More Roles for UK Actors

These screen, stage, and voice projects need talent in the UK right now, so sharpen your self-taping and audition skills and get busy. And while shoot dates are likely to change due to the new Covid measures, all these productions are still live at time of writing.

TV series is casting its lead female role
The production team behind Kensal Town are auditioning through the current lockdown via self-tapes, and they are casting their female lead. Pandy, playing age 16–22, is a teenage “pocket rocket” with a dark side, and the producers are likening her to Jodie Comer in Killing Eve. She “accidentally killed her Dad in a sword fight; she is super smart, keeps her head down, and is very caring.” The team are looking for an actor with a London accent (though not Essex or Cockney). TV series casting two male Japanese speakers
Casting director Rose Wicksteed is seeking two male Asian, Japanese-speaking actors for new streaming series Ray James. Satoru is playing age 50–59 – he’s a father who chastises his daughter when she’s rejected by a suitor. Young Man is playing age 25–32 – he meets Satoru’s daughter as part of a forced date. The project shoots from 1 December and includes a period of seven days self-isolation ahead of filming for three days. Please note that the booking is subject to a COVID test. Storytelling app casting host of characters
Immersive storytelling app Unrd is working with a well-known TV company to bring one of the most popular relationship-based reality shows to life. The team are seeking a group of performers willing to travel for a week between January and March 2021, and they’ll need to be comfortable wearing swimwear and kissing other cast members. Jessie is female, playing ages 20–28, and any ethnicity. She’s down-to-earth, fun, and in love with love. Kurt is male, playing ages 20–28 and any ethnicity. A construction worker with a strong moral core, he always does the right thing but can hold his own with the lads. Seb is male, playing ages 20–28, and any ethnicity. He’s a semi-pro surfer and a pro flirt. Leticia is female, playing ages 20–28, and Black – an ambitious student who thinks boys are more trouble than they’re worth. Feature film casting in Wales and London
Feature film The Queen’s Wrist is casting lead and supporting roles ahead of shooting in London next spring. Joanna is female, early 20s, any ethnicity, and any accent. Bright and bubbly, she’s a recent drama-school grad holding onto the dream while working odd jobs. Beryl is female, playing age 30–50, and any ethnicity. A stage manager in pub theatres, she’s self-important and full of anger and bile. Melodi is female, playing age 25–40, and any ethnicity – she’s a glamour-model wanting to be famous, but innocent and exploited by ruthless people. Gloria is a trans woman, playing ages 50–70, and any ethnicity, who once thrilled the nation with her performing poodles. Several further roles are available. The project shoots 20 March to 21 April in London and roles are paid £250–£500 per day plus travel expenses. The team are seeking performers based in Wales and London.
