A harrowing true story is coming back to life in the U.K., where the Steve Coogan-led The Reckoning is now filming.
The actor and comedian, best known for portraying Alan Partridge, has been seen around Manchester and in Llandudno and Rhos-on-Sea in Wales recently as he is taking on the role of the late Jimmy Savile for the ITV Studios and BBC One four-part drama.
Steve Coogan’s ‘The Lost King’ Is Greenlit + Soon Casting The series, which is currently a source of controversy in the areas it is filming, will tell the story of how Savile went from a working-class background to one of the biggest stars in television to internationally reviled after his years of sexual abuse were revealed, with a focus on the impact he had on his victims.
Filming reportedly began in Bolton in October. The docudrama comes from Sandra Goldbacher with Neil McKay in the writers’ room. No further casting has been announced at this time, nor has a premiere date.
