Only one man is strong enough to take on “Goliath,” and that’s DCI Tom Brannick. The BBC One series Bloodlands is back for its second season, and filming is now underway in Northern Ireland, where it will continue for the coming months in the Belfast area. Check out some recent photos from the set of the James Nesbitt-led series and get the scoop on Season 2 below.

Bloodlands

We’re back in the Bloodlands as filming for Season 2 of the Northern Irish crime noir has begun. Belfast Live shared some recent photos of filming for the second season of the BBC One thriller in the Springhill area of Bangor. Photos showed police on the scene of an apparent crime in a Bangor neighborhood.

The James Nesbitt-led series will soon be back for its sophomore season later this year with six new hour-long episodes. Nesbitt plays DCI Tom Brannick, a Northern Irish police officer “[who] connects a kidnapping with an infamous cold case with enormous personal significance.”

Season 1 centred around the mystery of the serial killer known only as Goliath, and while Season 2 will reportedly focus on a new plot, it will still be related to the premiere season’s mystery.

The cast also includes Charlene McKenna, Lorcan Cranitch, Lola Petticrew, and Chris Walley, as well as the new addition of Victoria Smurfit, who will play Olivia, “an enigmatic widow at the center of Brannick’s latest case whose intentions may be far from innocent.”

Filming for Bloodlands will continue in Belfast and its surrounding areas, including Strangford Lough, for the coming months. Chris Brandon is the series creator and writer with Jed Mercurio serving as the series showrunner. Carla Stronge is the series casting director.
