Lin-Manuel Miranda (you’ve heard of him?) is finally coming back to Broadway—albeit in a nontraditional sense. Miranda will usher “Freestyle Love Supreme,” the improvisational hip-hop troupe he co-founded, to the Main Stem this fall for a strictly limited engagement.
Miranda will serve as a co-producer for the run, slated for September 13—January 2020 at the Booth Theater, as well as an occasional (and unannounced) performer. Also slated to irregularly perform are Christopher Jackson, James Monroe Iglehart, Wayne Brady, Daveed Diggs, Anthony Veneziale, and others, many of whom are long-standing members of the “Miranda family.”

Miranda, along with Veneziale and “Hamilton” director Thomas Kail, created FSL in 2004 back when they were at work on Miranda’s first Tony-winning musical “In the Heights.” For more than a decade, performances have taken place throughout Manhattan, primarily downtown. Tickets go on sale to the general public July 9.
Another downtown hit making its way to the rialto this season: “Girl From the North County,” the musical which utilizes the Bob Dylan songbook and premiered at the Public Theater, has announced a Broadway transfer. Set amidst the Great Depression, the musical features a book and direction from Conor McPherson; performances will begin at the Belasco Theatre Feb. 7, 2020 ahead of an official opening on March 5.
