How to Use Backstage to Network

No working actor has ever made it without a little help and encouragement. That’s why networking is such a vital part of your career. Create a Backstage profile. 
To submit for Backstage’s many casting notices and communicate with the industry, you first have to make a Backstage profile. This will allow you to quickly and easily apply for gigs, and make you findable when casting directors, industry professionals, and your fellow actors browse Backstage for talent. 

Your profile should reflect the present day you—not the you who made the profile two years ago. Make sure your headshots are current and professionally done. (Backstage can help you find a headshot photographer if it’s time for new ones.) Ensure your resume reflects your most recent jobs and skills, and that any self-tapes or relevant media is uploaded properly. Contact info is a must. 

Apply for acting jobs.
If you want to network and meet industry professionals, you’re going to have to get out there and do it! Determine the type of roles you want and start applying. Backstage has everything from film to theater, modeling to commercials—so you can find your crowd. Plus, with new casting notices added every day, you can keep submitting, too! 

Speak up on the Backstage forums! 
The Backstage forums are a great way to network with fellow actors and industry professionals, pose questions, and even offer your expertise.(Yes, you’ve got plenty to teach as well.)
