Idris Elba Will Star in Apple TV+’s ‘Hijack’

Idris Elba is making headlines this week as he is partnering with Apple TV+ for a new series. “Hijack” is an upcoming seven-part intense thriller that the “Luther” star will lead and executive produce. Idris Elba is Taking Over Apple TV+

“Luther” star, Idris Elba is staying busy with Apple TV+. Elba is not only starring in the streamer’s new thriller “Hijack,” but will also executive produce the series. According to Variety, the seven-parter drama will star Elba as business negotiator Sam Nelson, “whose fast-talking skills are called upon when a plane he is riding is hijacked.” The series is the first project in the 2020 deal between Apple and Elba’s production banner Green Door Pictures. “Lupin” creator and writer George Kay is penning the new series with Jim Field Smith (“Criminal”) directing. A casting director has yet to be made public, but a couple of options may be found in some of Apple’s other U.K. offerings, including “Slow Horses” CD Shaheen Baig and “The Essex Serpent” CD Nina Gold.
