Feel that chill in the air? No, it’s not the winter—OK, yes, it technically is the winter, but it’s also because Season 3 of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” has dropped in glorious full on Netflix. And audiences can expect the same Sabrina they have always known, but with a dose of maturity, too, at least according to the actor who plays her, Kiernan Shipka.
“The theme of this season is much less about the romance than a lot of people might think or expect,” Shipka tells Newsweek. “It’s really about Sabrina finding herself. This season is so much more about Sabrina coming into her own as a person… We’ve really only met her and known her in relationships.”

The young actor is certainly wise beyond her years, at least when it comes to parsing her onscreen persona’s relationship status and autonomy (if only we were all this clear-headed when it comes to the subject).
“Pretty soon after Harvey, she bounced over to Nick—can’t blame her—but [we’ll] see Sabrina just try to figure out who she is on her own just as her own person,” she says. “I think that’s the theme of the season in a lot of ways.”
“She probably is way over her head,” she continues, before summing up the show’s endlessly watchable appeal. “And that’s why I love her so much.”
