This month is bookended by difficult transits with some nourishing, stabilizing astrology (finally!) throughout. March certainly comes in like a lion. After Venus slipped out of a tense moment with moody Pluto in late February, she starts off the month in the vice grip of Saturn. Venus square Saturn can feel like a rejection or total depletion, and your tender heart might be feeling a bit bruised. But on March 4, Venus dusts herself off and makes a triumphant return to her home turf of Taurus. Venus not only loves being here, but she’s supported by a sextile from retrograding Mercury (now in Aquarius), inviting you to reconnect with the people who support your big dreams.

On March 8, the sun gets a dose of fantasy from imaginative Neptune and Venus pairs up with Uranus to provide the creative spark. This is a great day to dream up how you’re going to align your life with your values. Pay attention to what comes up because on March 9 Mercury finally goes direct and there’s a full moon in Virgo, lending some much-needed clarity and structure. Things finally start moving again, and it’s the perfect time to put pen to paper and create your own work. Mars has been helping you power through your to-do list since mid-February (despite Mercury retrograde’s roadblocks), and on March 19 a meetup with generous Jupiter and the sun’s shift into Aries will make your motivation superhuman.

Take advantage of the unobstructed cosmic path from March 921 because the end of the month is a doozy. First, there’s a major astrological event: Saturn, the planet of hard lessons, moves out of strict Capricorn and into innovative Aquarius. Have the last two and a half years felt like you were putting in the work but the universe was saying no or not yet? Saturn in Aquarius will give you some distance and objectivity, as well as expand the world of possibilities available to you. During the last 10 days of the month, Mars is up against some frustrating transits similar to what Venus encountered at the start of the month. This might feel like a shock to the system, but the kind that shakes something loose in you: a new perspective, a new opportunity, or just a new attitude. Every exit is an entrance somewhere else. You’ve got this.

Remember, read your rising sign first! It will often be more on target than your sun sign reading.

JUMP TO

Pisces (Feb. 19–March 20)

It’s your party and you’ll cry if you want to! Mercury’s retrograde in Pisces might have had you feeling emotional or battling imposter syndrome, but March will mostly be smooth sailing with March 8 being an especially powerful day for imagination and creativity. In the last week of March, protect your heart: other people’s energy might affect you even more than it usually does.

Networking is not exactly your comfort zone, but you’re a genius at connecting with others. The last two and a half years have been a lesson in how to make the former feel more like the latter. When Saturn moves into your house of self-undoing, pay attention to the habits that keep you stuck and scared. RuPaul talks a lot about the inner saboteur: the voice that wants you to give up on your dreams and tells you you’re not good enough. The next three years want you to get in touch with her. Give her a name, give her an audience so she feels heard, but remember you’re the one running the show.

Aries (March 21–April 19)

It’s time to come forth, Aries. Last month was marked by solitude, but the kind you needed for your creative work. As Mercury goes direct and the sun moves into your sign, you’re more than ready to share what you’ve been working on with the world.

The last two and a half years have either brought a major career shift where you’re finally landing some serious roles, or they’ve been a total grind (and not of the cute “rise and grind” sort). The end of March represents a major energy recalibration for you, as the heaviness in your career sector starts to lighten a little. This doesn’t mean fewer opportunities–just the opposite, in fact. This is the time to invest in your network. Pay attention to the kinds of people you meet around this period. They might be able to help you land your next gig.

Taurus (April 20–May 20)

Everybody say love! March showers you with blessings in your relationships as Venus enters your sign on March 4 and stays there for the entire month. Then the full moon in fellow earth sign Virgo is shining in your House of Creativity and Performing. This is a great time to showcase your talent. On March 27, you’ll get an extra dose of abundance from Jupiter, who has been traveling through your House of Travel and Higher Meaning since December. Plan a trip with your loved one or take yourself on a solo retreat: with the sun’s shift into Aries, you’ll be drawn to silence, meditation, and creative projects of your own making. Use this fertile period to plant some seeds and set your intentions because March 21 marks the beginning of a three-year period where the cosmos will be asking you to get serious about your career.

Gemini (May 21–June 20)

This Mercury retrograde has probably been rough for you, Gemini. Your ruling planet, Mercury, has been swimming backward through Pisces, making it difficult for you to gain traction in your career. Mercury moving direct on March 9 will be just the jolt of electricity you need. The career issues that were keeping you stuck will finally get moving. This is a great time to make connections and build your network. The astrological energy keeps building as the sun moves into Aries and shines on you and your crew of fellow weirdos. Get together with them and make some art in March! On March 21 Saturn moves into your House of Meaning and GrandVisions, asking you to dream big and get disciplined about making your life’s love your life’s work.

Cancer (June 21–July 22)

For the last two and a half years, some of the most powerful planets have been shaking things up in your love life and it certainly hasn’t been a picnic. The last week of March sees several of these planets crashing into each other, which might feel like you’re hitting a brick wall with your loved ones. Try to focus on what the other person is actually saying rather than catastrophizing. Things will get better in April, but your mantra for March: respond, don’t react.

Cancers experience a lot of emotions but always have their shell–and their claws, if necessary–to keep people from seeing their vulnerability. But when Saturn moves into your 8th House of Psychological Depth, you’re going to be asked to practice vulnerability with the people who have earned the right to see it. Having emotions and being afraid doesn’t equal weakness. It’s what makes a good actor, and an even better human.

Leo (July 23–Aug. 22)

Leos love to take the stage, but this month is going to light you up! Venus gives a boost to your career all month, but particularly on March 8 and 27. When the sun enters fellow fire sign Aries, you’ll be drawn to travel and think deeply about your life’s purpose. Take a quick trip if you can, because an opportunity from the beginning of the month has you working hard by the end of it.

Saturn, the planet of hard-won wisdom, is stepping into your relationship sector on March 21. Pay attention to who you meet! This might mark the beginning of a long-term romantic relationship, but for now it’s more likely you’ll find an important collaborator for future work projects. Regardless, the next three years will be about learning how to take back some of the power other people hold over you.

Virgo (Aug. 23–Sept. 21)

Your ruling planet of Mercury has been caught in some rough waters since mid-February, which has brought up communication issues in your relationships. Remember that just because someone doesn’t share your priority list, it doesn’t mean they don’t value you. Certain people trigger you for a reason–instead of reacting, get curious about why.

For the last two and a half years, you’ve been devoted to your craft. After all the blood sweat and tears that go into the act of creation, you’re ready to translate it into something that pays the bills. The term “passion project” can sound diminishing, but you’ve got one brewing that is equal parts work and play. Plus, you’re a Virgo: work is fun for you.

Libra (Sept. 22–Oct. 22)

March 4 gives you a chef’s kiss of creative energy. Maybe it’s a callback for an audition you thought you nailed but never heard back from. Whatever the opportunity, you’ll get another chance to shine. March 19 brings a focus on your relationships, but Venus wants you not just to connect, but to commit. Practice active listening and you might be surprised by what comes up.

On March 21, Saturn wants you to work toward becoming a master of your craft. What are the tools you’re using to prepare for your auditions? How can you hone your skills? Are you taking classes? Who’s doing the kind of work you want to be doing and how can you learn from them? If you keep pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, the next three years will see you making huge strides in your creative life.

Scorpio (Oct. 23–Nov. 21)

Put yourself out there March 5–9. With Venus and Uranus in your House of Relationships, you could meet someone who shakes you out of your rut either romantically or artistically. And just in time, when Mercury goes direct on March 9 your creative life is going to be all systems go.

Then Saturn, the planet of authority and hard-won wisdom, enters your house of family, roots, and ingrained patterns. This is a great time to follow Dr. Nicole LePera, who talks about the process of “reparenting” and the ego’s role in fueling emotional addiction. We like familiar emotions–even when they’re painful–because feeling miserable is still less scary than the unknown. Start investigating what patterns are no longer serving you, and where you need to reparent yourself.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22–Dec. 21)

Last month’s Mercury retrograde had you investigating your family systems: how your roots made you the person you are today, for better or worse. When the sun moves into fellow fire sign Aries on March 19, channel what you’ve uncovered into your art. Venus and Uranus are teaming up in your house of work projects to help you get it done.

On March 21, Saturn wants you to become a master of your habits. What can you do every day that will make you a better artist? Is it doing morning pages or reading a play before bed instead of scrolling on your phone, or finally starting that side hustle? Start small, start now, and when you look back in three years, you’ll be amazed at how much you’ve accomplished.

Capricorn (Dec. 22–Jan. 19)

The last two weeks, and honestly the last two years, might have been a bit of an identity crisis for you, but this month brings some much-needed lightness. In her book “Big Magic,” Elizabeth Gilbert says “dare to be pleased with what you have created”–which isn’t always easy for you, Cap, but it’s an important part of the process. Use this time to dance, play, and celebrate how far you’ve come.

On March 21, Saturn finally shifts the focus to your resources: how you make money and how that affects your inherent self-worth. Start investigating the stories you tell yourself about scarcity and abundance. What will allow you to make your art without worrying so much about where your next paycheck is coming from?

Aquarius (Jan. 20–Feb. 18)

March is calling you to take a closer look at your day-to-day routines. That thing you know you should be doing to feel happier, healthier, or to take your career to the next level? Start it this month.

When Saturn moves into your sign on March 21, it’s a big deal. It only happens every 28–29 years and even though everyone will experience a shift, this transit is extra personal for you. Saturn will be hanging out in the part of your chart that represents you: your body, your identity, and how other people perceive you. Luckily, the last few years have taught you a lot about the habits that undermine you because the next three are all about stepping into your own authority.
