Studios are looking towards production re-opening and these UK projects are now visible on the horizon, whether in development or actively casting. Keep these leads on your radar and your eyes open for the opportunity to land an audition…
Matilda
Filming has been rescheduled for early next year on Matilda, the feature adaptation of the RSC’s hit stage musical based on Roald Dahl’s book, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. The project originally entered pre-production back in January, with Old Vic AD Matthew Warchus directing. Since then, there’s only one confirmed cast member – Ralph Fiennes as Mrs Trunchbull. Casting Director Lucy Bevan is still attached and new shoot dates in 2021 are yet to be confirmed.
Grantchester 6
ITV drama Grantchester, starring Robson Green and Tom Brittney, has been confirmed for a sixth series. Set in the 1950s, it sees Brittney play a Cambridgeshire clergyman who investigates a series of mysterious wrongdoings with the encouragement of Keating, a local detective played by Green. Casting directors Kelly Valentine Hendry and Alex Irwin cast the fifth instalment, so are very likely to be attached to the sixth, set to film this autumn.
Hanna 3
Amazon has greenlit a third series of their high concept coming-of-age series Hanna, following a young assassin played by Esme Creed-Miles. After a climactic second series, the third continues to tell the story of a genetically modified killer, relentlessly pursued by forces that want to use or destroy her. No filming schedule yet but UK casting directors Shaheen Baig and Jonny Boutwood are likely to be attached.
