If you love 80s nostalgia, we have good news—especially if you have a soft spot for John Hughes films. The team behind “Cobra Kai” is working on a spinoff to the hit classic “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” Find out everything we know about the upcoming project (and learn how you can get cast on the Emmy-nominated “Cobra Kai”) below.
A “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” Spinoff Is In Development
First reported by Deadline, “Cobra Kai” creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald are now working on a spinoff to the iconic John Hughes film “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” The new Paramount Pictures project titled “Sam and Victor’s Day Off” will be written by Bill Posley (“Bitch Ass”). The film will follow the titular parking attendants who were left in charge of Cameron Frye’s father’s Ferrari in the parent film.
The valets were not given names in the original “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” which starred Matthew Broderick in the eponymous role, but were played by Richard Edson and Larry “Flash” Jenkins. Though Jenkins died in 2019, there’s no word if Edson will make an appearance in the new project. Or, if any of the other stars of the original will make stealthy cameos.
A production timeline for “Sam and Victor’s Day Off” hasn’t been announced, nor has a cast or a casting director. Hurwitz, Schlossberg, and Heald have so far worked with different casting directors on their projects, including Koczara/Shevchenko Casting on “Cobra Kai” and Marie A.K. McMaster on “Obliterated.”
