The “eagle!”—or rather, the reboot—has finally landed. More than 15 years after the Season 9 finale, the original “Scrubs” cast and creative team are reuniting for a long-awaited return to Sacred Heart Hospital. “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence (“Ted Lasso,” “Shrinking”) is developing the rebooted sitcom, joined by legacy cast members Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and Judy Reyes. Braff will also direct and executive produce the revival, which is set to premiere on ABC on February 25, 2026, with episodes streaming on Hulu. Filming is already underway, but keep reading for the latest on the “Scrubs” reboot and what to know if you’re still hoping for a chance to scrub in.

Official plot details remain under wraps, but in a conversation with Deadline, Lawrence teased a “hybrid” revival that will catch up with fan-favorite characters while introducing a new generation of med students.
The original “Scrubs” followed a tight-knit but goofy crew of hospital staff—mainly a class of rookie medical interns—working at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital. The story unfolded through the eyes of Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian (Braff), a young physician in training who narrates the episodes with his quirky internal monologues and daydreams. The series ran for nine seasons between 2001 and 2010, airing first on NBC and then ABC.
So far, the returning cast members are:
- Zach Braff as John “J.D.” Dorian
- Donald Faison as Christopher Turk
- Sarah Chalke as Elliot Reid
- Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa
- Phill Lewis as Hooch
- John C. McGinley as Perry Cox
- Robert Maschio as Todd
New cast members include X Mayo, Michael James Scott, Vanessa Bayer as Sibby, Joel Kim Booster as Dr. Eric Park, Jacob Dudman as Asher, Ava Bunn as Serena, David Gridley as Blake, Layla Mohammadi as Amara, and Amanda Morrow as Dashana.
Lawrence will executive produce the reboot for 20th Television and ABC, though he won’t be writing or showrunning this time. As Deadline reports, his projects at Warner Bros. TV, including an untitled HBO series with Braff and Steve Carell, have him pulled in other directions. Stepping in as showrunner is former “Scrubs” producer Aseem Batra, joined by a group of executive producers including Chalke, Faison, Jeff Ingold, Liza Katzer, and Randall Keenan Winston.
As for casting, longtime duo Debby Romano and Brett Benner of Romano/Benner Casting, who served as the original “Scrubs” CDs, have yet to be confirmed for the revival.
Although the original “Scrubs” was filmed in Los Angeles, the set was demolished after the series ended. The reboot is believed to be filming in Vancouver, Canada.
