“Slow Horses” fans, rejoice! There’s a new crime drama about a team of misfit officers coming to Netflix. “Department Q” is based on Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen’s book series, and stars Matthew Goode as emotionally scarred detective Carl Morck and Kelly Macdonald as police therapist Rachel Irving. The series comes from “The Queen’s Gambit” co-creator Scott Frank and promises to stay true to Alder-Olsen’s story for at least the first season.
For those wanting to learn more about “Department Q,” here’s everything we know about this thriller series.

According to Netflix, the series revolves around Carl Morck (Goode), a formerly top-rated detective in Edinburgh. After a violent incident at work left his partner paralyzed and another officer dead, he’s tasked with setting up a cold-case department. Morck is racked with guilt for what happened to his partner, so he’s fine with being sidelined in a division that’s not much more than a public relations exercise—at first. But his detective instincts slowly get stronger, and his unit becomes a place for those who don’t quite fit in with the traditional police force.
No release date has been set for “Department Q” just yet.
Olivia Scott-Webb is the casting director for “Department Q.” Scott-Webb is based in London, and her casting résumé includes big-name projects such as “The Queen’s Gambit,” “Monsieur Spade” (also co-created by Frank), and “Fleabag.”
