USA Network is diving back into scripted storytelling with “The Rainmaker,” a new legal thriller based on John Grisham’s bestselling 1995 novel. According to Screen Rant, the series marks the network’s first scripted drama since 2019, signaling a new chapter for its programming slate. Produced by Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, the show is executive produced by Grisham, Patrick Moran (“How to Get Away With Murder”), Jason Richman (“The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon”), David Gernert (“The Innocent Man”), Jason Blum (“M3GAN”), and Michael Seitzman (“Quantico”), who also serves as showrunner.

Fresh out of law school, Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan) gets fired on his first day working for courtroom heavyweight Leo Drummond (John Slattery, “Mad Men”). However, he ends up with a job at the scrappy firm run by the unorthodox Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone (Lana Parrilla, “Once Upon a Time”). Rudy eventually teams up with Bruiser’s chaotic paralegal, Deck (P.J. Byrne, “A Complete Unknown”), to take on a case involving two intertwined conspiracies and a suspicious death.
The 10-episode series premieres Aug. 15 on USA Network; each episode will stream on Peacock one week after its initial airing.
