It was a heated bidding war, but Netflix has officially won the rights to Callie Hart’s fantasy-romance BookTok sensation “Quicksilver.” The novel, as well as the author’s two other upcoming books in the “Fae & Alchemy” trilogy series, went for seven figures. Hart announced the exciting news on her Instagram, writing, “ ‘Quicksilver’ is getting a MOVIE, guys! Netflix will be turning Fisher and Saeris’ story into the most incredible feature-length visual masterpiece, and I am officially freaking out.”
Hart is executive producing the adaptation, and Elizabeth Cantillon from the Cantillon Company is on board to produce. As for who else is involved in the “Quicksilver” movie, here’s what we know so far about the highly anticipated project.

The first book in Hart’s “Fae & Alchemy” series is about a 24-year-old woman named Saeris Fane who inadvertently opens a doorway between realms when she comes face-to-face with Death himself. She’s transported to another land, where she ends up binding herself to a handsome Fae warrior named Kingfisher. Kingfisher and Saeris must work together to save both of their kingdoms and eventually send her home.
“Quicksilver” hit the shelves on June 3, 2024. According to Deadline, the novel became a number one bestseller on Amazon and garnered over three million mentions on TikTok in its first two months of release. The second book in the series is set to release in the fall of 2025 and promises more Fae romance. As for when the third book will be released, we expect a similar turnaround—especially now that Netflix is bringing Saeris and Kingfisher’s story to life.
As mentioned, Cantillon—most recently the executive producer of Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus”—Hart, and Netflix are currently developing the movie.
Along with “Alien: Romulus,” Cantillon has an impressive résumé working with book adaptations. She executive produced the 2022 film adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion” for Netflix, and she’s been working on the long-awaited adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s bestseller “The Nightingale.” So, her involvement in the “Quicksilver” series is good news for fans.
