Though plot details remain under wraps, Deadline reported that T.S. Nowlin (“The Maze Runner,” “The Adam Project”) is writing the screenplay, replacing the previously announced Derek Connolly. The video game centers around the elf-like warrior Link as he fights to save the magical land of Hyrule. He often teams up with the elegant Princess Zelda against the evil warlord Ganon as they struggle to shield the Triforce from him.
Along with Nowlin, Variety reports Miyamoto is producing with Avi Arad (“Venom,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming”). Wes Ball (“The Maze Runner,” “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”) is attached to direct; he’ll also produce the film with his partner Joe Hartwick Jr. for their label Oddball Entertainment.
Nowlin will likely have to produce a script before we hear any casting announcements for the upcoming film. However, that hasn’t stopped fan speculation about who should play these iconic characters. According to Collider, fans would like to see Elle Fanning (“The Great”), Anya Taylor-Joy (“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga”), or Sophie Turner (“Game of Thrones”) play the princess.
Currently, there are no casting opportunities as the project is still in the early stages of its development cycle. In the meantime, beef up your résumé by finding jobs on our main casting page.
