Acting jobs and reserving religious beliefs?
“Hi everyone, my passion in life is acting, and like all actors I want to eventually play big roles on the big screen. However, I have a major obstacle in my way. I am a Seventh-day Adventist who reserves the Sabbath (Friday sundown to Saturday sundown) as the day of rest. My university will not cast me in any plays because of this. I realize that it will be hard for me to ever land roles, but is it even possible for me to land ANY roles? I do not know if anyone knows anything about this, but if anyone has any information I would sincerely appreciate the feedback.” —lolitagodzilla
EMC Signups at Auditions?
“I recently became EMC and have been out of the city for a minute, so I was hoping someone could explain briefly how it works now for EMCs signing up at EPAs and ECCs. Is it just signing up on a list with the monitor the way Equity alternates do? In that case, does a line form pretty early to sign up? Thanks for the help!” —jd78916
Applying to several acting programs. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find good monologues to audition with?
“I’m a senior in high school and now is about the time I’ll start applying to different acting programs. All of them require me to submit a contemporary or classical monologue audition. I’m in a rural area so I don't have access to play-script books and I absolutely can’t find any good scripts or appropriate ones for my age. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to locate good monologues for my age range?” —ActingMajor392
