We’re not quite out of lock-down yet, but studios are beginning to look towards production re-opening, and these greenlit UK projects are now visible on the horizon, whether in development or actively casting. Keep these leads on your radar and your eyes open for the opportunity to land an audition… 

The Score
A heist film with a musical backdrop following two small-time crooks who chase a big score, the film by writer-director Malachi Smyth is entering pre-production ahead of a shoot in 2021. Johnny Flynn, Will Poulter and Naomi Ackie star, and casting director Kelly Valentine Hendry is attached and casting now. 

This eight-episode Sky TV adaptation of the novel by Zoran Drvenkar sees a cast of characters from across Europe tell the story of a cache of stolen heroin, a group of teenage girls on the run, and a drug lord seeking his revenge. The script is by Ben Chanan (BBC’s The Capture) and the series is directed by Robert McKillop (Guilt). Shooting in Germany and across Europe from spring 2021, casting director Daniel Edwards is attached and casting now.

Shetland Series 6
Scottish detective drama series Shetland returns for a sixth outing, with Douglas Henshall as DI Jimmy Perez and Alison O’Donnell as Alison ‘Tosh’ MacIntosh. Shooting in mainland Scotland and on location in Shetland starts from spring 2021 and casting is by Orla O’Connor

Gangs of London Series 2
Sky’s action series Gangs of London has been renewed for a second series of high-octane crime drama. With an all-star returning cast including Joe Cole, Sope Dirisu, Paapa Essiedu, and Lucian Masmati, the second season begins filming next year. Casting director Kelly Valentine Hendry is attached and casting now.

Untitled Covis-19 Drama Series
Acclaimed writer-director Michael Winterbottom turns his unique style and acerbic wit to Boris Johnson and his government’s handling of the pandemic with a high-end TV series set during the Covid-19 crisis. Shooting takes place in spring 2021 and casting director Sarah Crowe looks likely to be attached.
