Catherine, Called Birdy
Lena Dunham directs a feature about the adventures of a teenage girl in medieval England, adapted from the children’s novel by Karen Cushman. Following a 14-year-old navigating life while avoiding potential suitors lined up by her father, there are no actors confirmed as yet but production begins in late March and casting director Nina Gold is attached.

Karen Pirie
This new ITV cold-case crime drama series is set in St Andrews and follows a young detective, Karen Pirie. Adapted from Val McDermid’s acclaimed novels by Emer Kenny, the story sees a group of suspects from an old closed murder case begin dying in suspicious circumstances. Three episodes begin shooting in late April and casting director Kahleen Crawford is attached.
The Almond and the Seahorse
Actor-director Celyn Jones is set to shoot new feature The Almond and the Seahorse later this year. The story following an archaeologist and an architect, both trying to re-imagine their lives after traumatic brain injury leaves them adrift from the people they love, and stars Rebel Wilson and Charlotte Gainsbourg are attached. Production begins this April in Wales and casting director Colin Jones is on board.
UPDATE: The Rig
Supernatural Scottish thriller The Rig follows a group of workers on a remote oil rig, due to return to the mainland when a fog descends and a mysterious force takes hold. This Amazon and Screen Scotland production is gearing up to shoot in Edinburgh in April and casting is by Kelly Valentine Hendry and associates.
