We’ve got the golden ticket – and the inside scoop on the upcoming Warner Bros. prequel feature Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet!
The Dune star shared the first look of himself in costume on Instagram early in October, and since then, we thankfully have not had to just use our pure imagination to get a peek at the project.
The Cobb in Lyme Regis and other parts of Dorset have been transformed recently for filming, as featured extensively by the BBC and where Chalamet and co-star Matt Lucas were seen on set. Additionally, a major scene was shot at Rivoli Ballroom in Brockley, South London, during the middle of October.
‘Call Me by Your Name’ Gave Timothée Chalamet the Confidence to Just Be We covered the casting when Chalamet was announced back in May. The film sees the former Oscar nominee portray Roald Dahl's titular anti-hero as a young man prior to opening his world-famous chocolate factory.
The previously announced Lucas, Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Keegan-Michael Key, Rakhee Thakrar, and more also star. Paul King is directing from the screenplay he wrote with Simon Farnaby.
This will be the third time Warner Bros. has taken on Wonka, following the Gene Wilder- and Johnny Depp-starred versions. The new take is due out on 17 March, 2023.
