Greenlit means a project is officially a go, so all you have to do is follow these leads to stay up to date. You never know where you’ll find an opportunity to land an audition!

“Wonka”
Hold your breath, make a wish, count to three: first reported by Deadline, Timothée Chalamet will star in the upcoming Warner Bros. and Roald Dahl Story Co. origin story “Wonka.” The Oscar nominee will play the titular anti-hero prior to opening the world-famous chocolate factory. According to Deadline’s sources, the “Little Woman” and “Call Me By Your Name” star has been the top choice for some time but scheduling wasn’t quite working out, especially considering prep for the film will include musical training for the star. Paul King will direct from the screenplay he wrote with Simon Farnaby. This will be the third time Warner Bros. takes on Wonka, following the original 1971 “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder and the 2005 remake, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” No further casting has been announced.

“Hocus Pocus”
Toil and trouble are back for a double! Original “Hocus Pocus” stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy will reprise their roles as the Sanderson sisters in the upcoming Disney+ sequel, as Midler revealed the news via her Twitter on May 20. With the official casting, Disney has also officially revealed the plot of the sequel, which will star “three young women [who] accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.” As we’ve previously reported, the streamer officially announced the project back in March of last year with Adam Shankman coming on board to direct. However, Shankman will no longer direct due to scheduling conflicts and Anne Fletcher (Dumplin’) will instead take over. The sequel to the 1993 Disney classic was written by “Workaholics” writer and co-producer Jen D’Angelo. An official casting director has yet to be announced, but Fletcher always works with Cathy Sandrich Gelfond on her features. The film is set to be released in Fall 2022.

“And Just Like That…”
If you couldn’t help but wonder who would fill the void left by Samantha’s absence, the upcoming “Sex and the City” revival has reportedly cast Sara Ramírez as a series regular. The Tony winner and “Madam Secretary” star joins Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis in the highly-anticipated “And Just Like That…” and will play Che, “a non-binary, queer, stand-up comedian that hosts a podcast on which Carrie Bradshaw is regularly featured.” “And Just Like That…” will reportedly follow Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda “as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s.” The HBO series is in pre-production and is scheduled to have its first episode released later this year. Telsey + Company’s L.A. office is the casting team.

“Attack the Block 2”
Back home from a galaxy far, far away, John Boyega is on a new-but-familiar adventure. The “Star Wars” star will reunite with Joe Cornish for a sequel to “Attack the Block.” Cornish will write and direct the sequel and produce with Boyega through his UpperRoom Productions banner, as well as original producers Nira Park and James Wilson. The plot of the sci-fi sequel is being kept under wraps, but Boyega will, of course, return as Moses, who, in the original, took on a group of nasty extraterrestrials looking to take over the neighborhood. No further casting has been announced. Nina Gold was the original CD.

“Tuesday”
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has entered the A24 universe. The “Veep” star will lead the cast of the upcoming “Tuesday,” directed by Daina O. Pusic. Lola Pettricrew will also co-star opposite Louis-Dreyfus as her daughter, and Arinzé Kene will play a supporting role. The plot is being kept a secret, but Deadline describes it as “a mother-daughter fairytale.” The project was developed with BBC Film, BFI, and Gingerbread Pictures.
