What is “Foundation” about?

“Foundation” follows mathematician Hari Seldon (Jared Harris), who predicts the fall of the Galactic Empire and sets out to preserve civilization through a scientific colony known as the Foundation. As the empire collapses, political power shifts, religious factions rise, and the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance

Season 3 picks up after the explosive events of Season 2 and introduces the Mule (Pilou Asbæk, “Game of Thrones”), a telepathic tyrant who poses a new existential threat. Apple TV+ says the season continues “the epic chronicle of a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire.”

Who are the casting directors for “Foundation”?

Veteran casting directors Lucinda Syson (“The Diplomat,” “September 5”) and Natasha Vincent (“Love, Death & Robots,” “The Sandman”) have led casting for all seasons of “Foundation” to date. Known for building large-scale, international ensembles, they seek actors who can bring gravitas and emotional nuance to complex, genre-driven roles.

In an interview with Casting Networks, Syson reflected on the casting process, noting, “Acting is very vulnerable and hard work. There aren’t many professions where you can do your best and be faultless, but you still don’t get the part because someone else fits it better. Casting directors are very aware of how tough that can be. We see so many wonderful actors and performances that it’s such a shame to have to make a final choice.”
