According to Tudum by Netflix, “Pulse” is a medical procedural that focuses on a cadre of doctors including Sam Elijah (Jessie T. Usher), a third-year emergency medicine resident; Sophie Chan (Chelsea Muirhead), a surgical intern; Natalie Cruz (Justina Machado), the chair of surgery and emergency medicine; and Ruben Soriano (Néstor Carbonell), a senior surgeon. The show revolves around the fallout from the secret relationship between third-year emergency medicine resident Danny and Chief Resident Phillips. When news of their romance hits the ER, Danny is unexpectedly promoted as Phillips is suspended. All the while, a hurricane bears down on Miami’s busiest Level 1 trauma center, causing the hospital to go into lockdown.
“Pulse” premieres with all 10 episodes on April 3.
In addition to a stacked cast, “Pulse” is filled with talent behind the scenes. The new series comes from first-time creator and showrunner Zoe Robyn and veteran showrunner Carlton Cuse (“Lost,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), per Deadline. Kate Dennis, Sarah Boyd, SJ Main Muñoz, Wendey Stanzler, and Cuse each direct two episodes of the series. Plus, “Pulse” has a robust casting department, with Elizabeth Hay listed as a casting associate and Danielle Pretsfelder Demchick listed for casting, as well.
