Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed is returning to television with “Bait,” a new six-episode comedy he created, co-wrote, and stars in. Premiering March 25 on Prime Video, the series follows a struggling actor whose whole world changes when he suddenly finds himself in the running to play James Bond.

“Bait” centers on Shah Latif (Ahmed), whose last shot at breaking through as an actor arrives in the form of an audition that could catapult him to stardom. Over four increasingly chaotic days, Shah’s family, ex-lover, and the entire world weigh in on whether he’s the right man to take on one of cinema’s most iconic roles: James Bond.

Produced by Jax Media (“Emily in Paris,” “Animal Control,” “The Connors”) and Amazon MGM Studios, “Bait” is executive produced by Ahmed and Allie Moore (“Hamlet,” “Defiance: Fighting the Far Right”) for Left Handed Films. Ben Karlin (“The Daily Show”) executive produces and serves as co-showrunner alongside Ahmed.
