Videographer Tim Grady shares the steps actors must take to build it correctly. “Don’t be put off because you don’t have experience,” he assures. “There’s definitely ways to get into that casting director’s office or into the audition studio.”
For musical theater actors, Grady says that existing footage is not necessary. Instead, he suggests using videography services like his to help get your career going. You just show up ready to sing your 16 bars and leave the reel to the professionals!
For new film actors with no prior on-camera work, it’s also possible make a demo reel without prior footage by piecing together various monologues and scenes that show off your range. In this case, it’s a great idea to work with a videographer to compile them into a final product that will catch agents’ attention!
