Damsel
Netflix’s subversion of the ‘damsel in distress’ genre is gearing up for production next year. Millie Bobby Brown stars as Elodie, a princess who thinks she’s being set up for a royal marriage, only to be thrown to a dragon and have to fight her way out. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) is attached to direct, with production set for 2022. Casting director Fiona Weir is on board along with associates Sinead Donnelly and Olissa Rogers.
I Used To Be Famous
Netflix has also announced a new feature comedy, starring Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) as a washed up pop star who finds himself making an unexpected friendship with a young autistic drummer. Developed from a 2015 short of the same name, shooting isn’t yet scheduled but casting director Isabella Odoffin is attached.
Ralph and Katie
A six-part spinoff from acclaimed drama The A Word is set to shoot in late January 2022, with the series following the triumphs and challenges of the first year of marriage for characters Ralph and Katie. Casting director Andy Pryor and team are likely to be attached.
