The following BBC projects are now visible on the horizon, whether in development or actively casting. Keep these leads on your radar and your eyes open for the opportunity to land an audition.

Vigil

Claustrophobic crime drama Vigil has been greenlit by the BBC for a second series, shooting next year. Creator Tom Edge has hinted it’s unlikely there will be any further tales of life and death on the submarine. And Suranne Jones is the only confirmed star picking up the story after her character DCI Amy Silva returns to shore. Casting directors Kahleen Crawford and Dan Jackson are likely to return.

Time

Jimmy McGovern’s brutal BBC drama exploring punishment and redemption in the prison system is returning. However, neither Sean Bean or Stephen Graham are onboard for this second instalment, as the next three episodes shift the setting to a women’s prison. There’s no timeline for filming but it’s likely that CDs David Martin and Sheraz Ahmed will return to cast.

The Responder

The hit BBC series based on ex-police officer Tony Schumacher’s real-life experiences is back, with star Martin Freeman continuing the story of Chris, an officer walking a fine line between doing the right thing and falling foul of the law. Set and filmed in Liverpool, Robert Sterne and associate Catriona Dickie are very likely to be back and casting now.
