Canadian multihyphenate Mae Martin has been a Netflix favorite since appearing on the stand-up series “Comedians of the World” in 2019. Since then, they co-created and starred on the rom-com series “Feel Good” and headlined the comedy special “Mae Martin: SAP” in 2023. With the upcoming thriller “Wayward,” Martin shifts gears, trading laughs for suspense. Created by and starring Martin, the limited series will premiere on Netflix in 2025. While details remain limited, Netflix describes “Wayward” as a psychological thriller exploring the “troubled teen industry.” The miniseries unfolds in a picturesque town hiding a sinister undercurrent, where generational tensions fuel the drama.
Production began in Canada in the summer of 2024, and the cast features some heavy hitters. In addition to Martin, “Wayward” stars Toni Collette, Sarah Gadon, and Patrick J. Adams. Martin serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Ryan Scott (“Servant,” “Fear the Walking Dead”).
