Netflix is leaning into its successful book-to-screen journey with yet another page-turning adaptation, “All We Ever Wanted.” The drama series, based on Emily Giffin’s 2018 novel, is officially in development, with executive producers Reese Witherspoon and author Harlan Coben leading the way. Coben has already partnered with Netflix on several of his book adaptations, including two upcoming series, “Run Away” and “I Will Find You.” He and Witherspoon recently collaborated on their co-written thriller novel, “Gone Before Goodbye,” which debuted as a New York Times bestseller in October 2025. As we await more details about “All We Ever Wanted,” here’s what we can share about the series so far.

As reported by Deadline, the series logline describes the project as “a soapy and scandalous drama that uncovers the secrets and class struggles of a wealthy suburb; where a torrid love affair between a ‘have’ Mom and ‘have-not’ single Dad threatens to expose the sins and lies of all of those around them.”
The series is already drawing comparisons to some of Witherspoon’s previous drama projects, including “Big Little Lies” and “Little Fires Everywhere.”
The official cast members haven’t been announced at this time.
Jessica Goldberg (“The Path,” “Parenthood”) will serve as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will produce for Hello Sunshine, Coben for Final Twist Productions, and Nicola Shindler (“Run Away”) for Quay Street Productions.
The series is still in the early stages of development, so now is the perfect time to focus on securing professional representation ahead of casting calls.
