What is “Ponies” about?

In Cold War–era Moscow, 1977, two American embassy secretaries, dismissed as “persons of no interest,” or “ponies” in intelligence speak, are thrust into espionage after their husbands are mysteriously killed. Bea (Clarke), a Russian-speaking daughter of Soviet immigrants, and Twila (Richardson), a bold small-town transplant, work together to uncover a conspiracy and solve the mystery that made them widows in the first place.

From creators, executive producers, and writers David Iserson (“Mr. Robot,” “New Girl”) and Susanna Fogel (“The Flight Attendant,” “The Spy Who Dumped Me”), the series promises a compelling blend of suspense and drama. Fogel also directs. Iserson is the showrunner with Mike Daniels (“Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist,” “The Village”). Jessica Rhoades (“Black Mirror”) and Clarke are executive producers.
