Fans of the original “Spartacus” series on Starz can gear up for battle again when the spinoff series, “Spartacus: House of Ashur,” returns to the network this fall. The 10-episode miniseries is led by executive producer and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, the creator of the “Spartacus” gladiator saga that has since expanded into a five-part franchise. More than a decade after the original show’s run, Nick Tarabay (“Stargirl,” “The Expanse”) will reprise his role as Ashur, and the story will explore an alternate ending for his character, picking up where “Spartacus: Vengeance” left off.

As reported by Deadline, “Spartacus: House of Ashur” poses the question: What if Ashur (Tarabay) hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of “Spartacus: Vengeance”? Instead, “Spartacus: House of Ashur” will explore the story of Ashur’s own ludus — a gladiator training school — led by former gladiator Korris (Graham McTavish). Tensions will stir as rival gladiators threaten Ashur’s safety and plot his downfall in the action-packed series.
The series’ ensemble cast includes:
- Nick Tarabay as Ashur
- Graham McTavish as Korris
- Jordi Webber as Tarchon
- Claudia Black as Cossutia
- Jamaica Vaughan as Hilaria
- Ivana Baquero as Messia
- Tenika Davis as Achillia
- India Shaw-Smith as Viridia
- Leigh Gill as Satyrus
- Joe Abadal as Helios
- Evander Brown as Ephesius
- Simon Arblaster as Proculus
- Daniel Bos as Balbus
- Mikey Thompson as Musicus
- Lucy Lawless as Lucretia
DeKnight returns to the franchise as an executive producer with another “Spartacus” alum, Rick Jacobson (“Baywatch,” “Knightfall”). Mike Dwyer (“Filthy Rich”) is the casting director. The series is produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television.
