The following UK projects are now visible on the horizon, whether in development or actively casting. Keep these leads on your radar and your eyes open for the opportunity to land an audition.
That Christmas
Richard Curtis’ next feature will be an adaptation of his own children’s book That Christmas, billed as ‘Love Actually for kids’. The heart-warming tale of families counting down the sleeps until Christmas is brought to life by How to Train Your Dragon story artist and designer Simon Otto, marking his directorial debut. It will be the second feature outing from animation company Locksmith (Ron’s Gone Wrong).
With a script co-written by Peter Souter, That Christmas is Curtis’ first animated feature but will no doubt bring in some familiar faces (or rather, voices) from previous films. There’s no casting confirmed as yet but casting directors Rachel Freck and Jessica Mescall are attached.
Ted Lasso 3
A third series of the acclaimed Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso is in pre-production, with filming scheduled for next year. The tale of a small-time American coach trying to get an English football team to hit the big time is continued, with the main cast returning around Jason Sudeikis. Shooting is set to begin on 31 January 2022, and casting directors Theo Park and Kimberly Hope are attached.
