Hello and welcome to one of our shoutouts for projects casting around the UK. As always, there’s a mix of opportunities for all ages, abilities, and locations, but do remember to check if you fit the bill before applying. Four Thieves Vinegar
Brighton Fringe production Four Thieves Vinegar is a black comedy about The Black Death casting for two male and two female performers. Set at the height of the plague in 1665, three prisoners use everything at their disposal to find a cure for the disease. Here’s a breakdown of the roles:
Matthias Richards is for a male actor of any ethnicity with a playing age of 25–35. An apothecary, he’s been imprisoned for debt.
Jennet Flyte is for a female actor of any ethnicity with a playing age of 18–24. She’s a streetwise but fragile thief.
Hannah Jeakes is for a female actor of any ethnicity with a playing age of 40–60. A widowed plague nurse, she’s been thrown in prison for riotous behaviour.
Simon Holt is for a male actor of any ethnicity with a playing age of 50–60. The jailer, charged with looking after the others, is a grizzled war veteran.
Rehearsals start early April in Brighton, with performances on 4–5 May and 1–2 June at 1 pm. Performed in the Rialto Theatre in Brighton, as part of Brighton Fringe 2019, it’s possible additional shows will be added in mid-May at the Barn in Rottingdean.
Rehearsals pay expenses of £5 per day, performances pay £50 each, with five shows minimum. The team are looking for talent based in Brighton and surrounding areas. Please be aware that auditions and rehearsals may be scheduled in a private residence.
