Proving to be an immediate success for NBC and Peacock upon its debut last fall, “St. Denis Medical” has already been given the all-clear for a sophomore season. The medical comedy injects a dose of humor into would-be serious situations (for example, an emotional support animal gone rogue in the hospital), veering away from traditional emergency room dramas. For those hoping to land a role on Season 2, here’s what we know so far, including who helps cast the series.

What is “St. Denis Medical” about?

Underfunded, understaffed, and a little uncouth—that’s how you could describe the fictional Oregon hospital at the center of “St. Dennis Medical.” The show, which quickly built a fanbase after just a few episodes, has been compared to other NBC comedy hits, including “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation,” thanks to the mockumentary-style filming. Wendi McLendon-Covey (“The Goldbergs”) stars as Joyce, a hospital administrator whose actions are usually more meddlesome and haphazard than they are methodic. David Alan Grier (“In Living Color”) plays Ron, a cynical senior physician who often gets caught up in the hospital’s shenanigans. Allison Tolman (“Fargo”), Josh Lawson (“Mortal Kombat”), Mekki Leeper (“Jury Duty”), and Kahyun Kim (“Cocaine Bear”) make up the rest of the main cast.

Who is the casting director for “St. Denis Medical”?

Susie Farris has partnered with “St. Denis Medical” co-creators Eric Ledgin and Justin Spitzer, serving as the primary CD for the quirky sitcom. With projects like “Superstore,” “Mr. Robot,” and Prime Video’s “Homecoming” under her belt, Farris is no stranger to successful television series. Here’s what she had to say about audition mistakes and how to get noticed as an actor.

If you want to audition for seasoned CDs like Farris, having professional representation is one of the best ways to get in the room. Here’s how to get an acting agent if you don’t already have one.
