Don’t stop believin’, Gleeks. More than a decade after New Directions sang its last note, “Glee” could be headed for a comeback. Co-creator Ryan Murphy announced that he and original collaborators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan have finished a script for a potential reboot of the hit musical comedy.
“Glee” became a pop culture phenomenon during its six seasons on Fox from 2009 to 2015, earning six Emmy Awards and four Golden Globes, including two for best musical or comedy television series. The series has experienced a recent resurgence thanks to streaming services such as Hulu and Disney, finding a whole new generation of fans.
The reboot hasn’t received a series order yet, but the possibility looks promising. For those interested in learning more about the “Glee” revival, here’s everything we know so far about the project

Plot details haven't been revealed, so it's unclear whether the new project will bring back the original characters, introduce a new generation of performers, or both.
The original “Glee” followed a group of high school misfits who found their place in McKinley High’s show choir. Led by Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison), New Directions navigated teenage drama, rival clubs, and the wrath of cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch), with plenty of pop hits and Broadway numbers along the way.
By the finale, Rachel was a Tony-winning Broadway star, Kurt and Blaine were married, and Will was running McKinley as a performing arts school. Whether the reboot revisits these characters remains to be seen.
Murphy has reunited with fellow “Glee” creators Falchuk and Brennan. In September, he told Entertainment Tonight: “I just finished the script an hour ago. So, we have a script. I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.”
Chris Colfer, who played Kurt Hummel, recently revealed that he knows nothing about the project. Lea Michele made it clear she’d welcome another turn as Rachel Berry. “I love ‘Glee.’ I will always love ‘Glee.’”
Talk of a reboot has been circulating for years. In July 2026, Murphy told People, “That show is interesting because it’s come back around. So many young people now watch it. And I’m like, ‘Maybe we should revisit that show.’ ”
No cast members have been confirmed since the project is still in early development. Murphy hasn't revealed the names of the 10 original cast members he has spoken to.
During the height of its popularity, the cast landed more than 200 songs on the Billboard Hot 100. The show’s popularity even spawned concert tours and a theatrical concert film.
