Following the momentum of psychological thrillers like “Severance” and “Pluribus,” Apple TV is doubling down on the genre with its next limited series, “Imperfect Women.” The eight-episode drama stars Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Kerry Washington (“Scandal”), and Kate Mara (“House of Cards”) and is adapted from Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name. Developed by showrunner and executive producer Annie Weisman (“Desperate Housewives”), the series also lists Moss and Washington among its executive producers. “Imperfect Women” premieres Wednesday, March 18, with the first two episodes, followed by weekly installments.

Ahead of the debut, here’s what to know about the cast members, casting directors, and more.

What is “Imperfect Women” about?

When Nancy (Mara) is murdered, she leaves behind a husband, a daughter, and a secret lover, but that’s only the start. Nancy’s two best friends, Mary (Moss) and Eleanor (Washington), quickly realize that maybe they didn’t know her—or each other—as well as they thought. As the murder investigation unravels, the women are confronted with their own feelings of guilt, betrayal, and self-reflection.

Who is in the cast of “Imperfect Women”?

Additional cast members include Corey Stoll, Leslie Odom Jr., Audrey Zahn, Jill Wagner, Rome Flynn, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Violette Linnz, Indiana Elle, Jackson Kelly, Keith Carradine, Ana Ortiz, Wilson Bethel, Sherri Saum, and Sandrine Holt.

Who is the casting director for “Imperfect Women”?

Linda Lowy (“Hacks,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal”) and Morgan Smith (“How to Get Away with Murder”) of Backyard Casting are CDs. Pilar Savone and Washington executive produce for Simpson Street, while Moss and Lindsey McManus executive produce for their company, Love & Squalor Pictures. Kay Oyegun, Lesli Linka Glatter, and Hall are additional EPs.

Lowy’s advice to aspiring actors? Practice, practice, practice. “Work; practice your craft. I can always smell the fear, and I can also tell when actors are loose and working,” the CD said in an interview with Backstage. “Be yourself but also work on your craft in between all of these auditions. Get in class, get with a group of people, read plays, just do scenes with friends—whatever it is that you do.”
