This upcoming Apple TV+ drama is having no trouble generating interest ahead of its 2026 release. “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” is an eight-episode series starring Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, Nick Offerman, and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman. The project is currently in production by A24, Blossom Films, David E. Kelley Productions, and Lewellen Pictures.
“Margo’s Got Money Troubles” is the latest collaboration between Kidman and showrunner David E. Kelley. The pair previously worked together on the series “Nine Perfect Strangers,” “Big Little Lies,” and “The Undoing.” Kelley is also married to Pfeiffer—and “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” marks their first project together.

The series is an adaptation of the 2024 novel of the same name by Rufi Thorpe. Margo Millet (Fanning) is the daughter of a Hooters waitress (Pfeiffer) and a former pro wrestler (Offerman). An unemployed college student in her early 20s, she gets pregnant during a fling with her English professor, Mark (Michael Angarano, “This Is Us,” “Will and Grace”). Facing the threat of eviction, Margo starts an OnlyFans account to pay the bills and support her baby. When her estranged father shows up and asks to move into her apartment, Margo agrees in exchange for the free child care he can provide. Along the way, she utilizes his advice to expand her online following.

Matt Lander (“Nine Perfect Strangers,” “Tiny Beautiful Things”) and David Rubin (“Big Little Lies,” “Sharp Objects”) of Firefly Casting served as CDs for the series.
Rubin, the mastermind behind many successful book adaptations, including “Where the Crawdads Sing” and “Little Fires Everywhere,” spoke with Backstage about his casting process and shared his advice for young actors. “Never walk into a waiting room and see people there and presume that they’re going to get the role and not you because they look more like the character you envision than you do,” he said. “The one thing every actor can deliver in an audition that no one else can is their true self. Bring whoever you are to the role. It could be very different from what the filmmakers are looking for, but if it’s authentic and it works, it can actually reframe what people think they’re looking for.”
