What is “Scarpetta” about?

The upcoming series is adapted from the Kay Scarpetta crime novels by Patricia Cornwell. First published in 1990, the book series follows Kay, a forensic pathologist and medical examiner who specializes in tough-to-solve crimes. When Kay returns to her hometown to investigate a murder, she reunites with her estranged sister, Dorothy Farinelli (Curtis), and is confronted with secrets that could threaten her entire career. The Prime Video adaptation will see Kay’s (Kidman) career unfold across two timelines, from her early beginnings in the 1990s to the present day.

Who is in the cast of “Scarpetta”?

The main cast members are:

  • Nicole Kidman as Kay Scarpetta
  • Jamie Lee Curtis as Dorothy Farinelli
  • Ariana DeBose as Lucy Farinelli-Watson
  • Bobby Cannavale as Pete Marino
  • Simon Baker as Benton Wesley

Additional cast members include Sosie Bacon (“Smile”), Charlie B. Foster (“The Peek With Samuel Pepys”), Janet Montgomery (“1923”), Stephanie Faracy (“Nobody Wants This”), Mike Vogel (“Boston Blue”), Tiya Sircar (“Ghosted”), Anna Diop (“Us”), and Graham Phillips (“The Good Wife”).

Who is the casting director for “Scarpetta”?

John Papsidera (“Oppenheimer,” “Yellowstone,” “Wednesday”) is the CD for “Scarpetta.” If you’re wondering what catches Papsidera’s attention during the casting process, look no further than his interview with Backstage from 2024. His top tip for auditions? Be confident in yourself. “It’s infectious if an actor walks in with confidence and belief in themselves—and not cockiness and not hubris, but belief in what they’re bringing into the room,” said Papsidera. “It’s contagious to directors and producers.”

Remember that it’s always beneficial to work with an acting agent, especially if you’re hoping to land a role in one of Papsidera’s future projects alongside A-list stars. If you don’t have professional representation yet, here’s what you can do.
