Created by executive producer, writer, and showrunner Jonathan Glatzer (“Succession,” “Better Call Saul”), the new dark comedy “The Audacity” premieres April 12 on AMC. The Silicon Valley–inspired series stars Billy Magnussen (“The Franchise”), Sarah Goldberg (“Barry”), Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover”), Lucy Punch (“Amandaland”), and Simon Helberg (“The Big Bang Theory”).
Magnussen plays a tech bro not unlike his Elon Musk–esque character on HBO Max’s sci-fi thriller “Made for Love,” so it’s no wonder it only took 60 seconds to win over Glatzer with his audition. “You talk about irrational exuberance—he plays Duncan with this fire in his eyes, this certainty that he is going headlong toward what I think ends up frequently being a cliff or a banana peel,” Glatzer told Vanity Fair.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new series, including who cast it and where to find similar casting calls.

Set within the Silicon Valley tech bubble, “The Audacity” follows Duncan Park (Magnussen), a data-mining CEO who’s hungry for “profit and power,” according to AMC’s official statement. His only problem? He’s not even remotely close to achieving billionaire status like his fellow tech bros.
To advance his ambitions, Duncan teams up with his therapist, Dr. Joanne Felder (Goldberg), to make his dreams a reality. While Duncan attempts to join the ranks of the world’s biggest companies, viewers will catch a glimpse of how these executives sink or swim—and the drama that ensues. “I wanted it to be the also-rans, the more desperate ones, and then brought that [focus] out to their families, the kids, and the spouses,” Glatzer told Vanity Fair. “Everybody seems to believe that they are the chosen inventors of the future and that they are the right people to disrupt how we all should be human beings.” And with such a saturated market, who knows what lengths Duncan will go to as he works to secure his legacy.
The eight-episode season will drop one episode per week on AMC and AMC+.
