Having a successful acting career in voiceover no longer means having to live in New York City or Los Angeles. Opportunities to launch and sustain a career in the field is possible to do from anywhere, including Dallas, Texas. The city is a thriving market for voice actors and the talent agencies that represent them. If you’re a Texas-based VO performer wondering how to sign with voice acting agents in the Dallas area, we’ve put together a list to get you started.

The Campbell Agency

This Dallas talent agency was founded in 1989 by Nancy Campbell, who got her start in the business as an advertising agency receptionist and worked her way up to starting her own company. Per its website, the Campbell Agency prides itself on being “at the forefront of balancing personal attention while providing clients state-of-the-art support in all their casting needs.” This includes mini-profiles and demo reels of each of its clients, including voiceover talent. Among Campbell’s staff of specialized agents is Sharon Hendricks Howell, who represents voiceover and on-camera talent, and has experience casting TV and theater.

Submission policy: The Campbell Agency accepts email submissions, which should include a demo reel, from talent based in Dallas and Fort Worth.

The Clutts Agency

A SAG-AFTRA–franchised agency in the heart of Dallas, the Clutts Agency was founded in 1997 by John Clutts. His background in fashion and photography means this talent agency has a particular focus on models and stylists—and, for actors, that he knows the demands of being on both sides of the camera.

Submission policy: The Clutts Agency considers prospective talent via a form on its official website; actors must upload a headshot and résumé.

Mary Collins Agency

The voiceover section of the Mary Collins Agency website enables you to search and sort through talent specializing in different areas of voiceover: audiobook narration, commercials, even dialects and accents. Since opening in 1984, the agency has been at the forefront of changes in technology around casting and recording voiceover. If you are a Dallas-based, Spanish-speaking voiceover artist looking to capitalize on your bilingualism, this might be the agency to contact.

Submission policy: Actors inquiring about representation with Mary Collins can contact the agency via email; voiceover artists should send an edited audio demo reel with their résumé, plus a referral from a fellow member of the entertainment industry.

Kim Dawson Agency

Not only Dallas’ oldest talent agency, but one of the oldest agencies in the United States, Kim Dawson has stood the test of time since 1959. Priding itself on being “a destination for agency scouts from around the world,” Kim Dawson has helped the likes of Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and Chace Crawford early in their careers.

Submission policy: Actors, including voice acting talent in Dallas, are encouraged to submit a headshot, résumé, and demo via email.

The Horne Agency

The goal of the Horne Agency is “to help actors achieve their goals and dreams of success in feature films, broadcast, radio, photography, and other media.” Founded in 1994, this SAG-AFTRA–franchised agency is one of the youngest companies on this list, but it’s clear that its Dallas-based voice and screen acting clientele are in good hands.

Submission policy: Contact information for the Horne Agency can be found on the company’s website; actors seeking representation must use a submission form that requires a headshot and résumé.

Linda McAlister Talent Agency

This agency deserves consideration from on-camera and voiceover actors in Texas who are seeking representation that emphasizes dependability and courtesy. As its website states, “casting directors, producers, and directors know they can depend upon LMT clients to conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism, and that translates to lower production costs.” Making sure of that since 1994, owner and lead agent Linda McAlister has helped legitimize the Lone Star State’s presence in the film industry, helping create the Texas Motion Picture Alliance and working on state legislation to generate industry jobs.
