Stephen King's work is no laughing matter for Mike Flanagan. Following “Gerald’s Game,” “Doctor Sleep,” and The Life of Chuck” (plus the upcoming “Mist”), the popular showrunner is taking on the classic “Carrie” as his next major adaptation, with the upcoming Prime Video series marking the first time King’s 1974 novel has been adapted for TV. Summer H. Howell stars as the title teen, the misfit high schooler Carrie White, whose mysterious telekinetic powers emerge as a response to isolation, bullying, abuse, and grief. Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Matthew Lillard, and more will co-star in the eight-episode miniseries adaptation, arriving just in time for spooky season on Oct. 7. “The Owl”  

Casting is underway for “The Owl,” a short narrative psychological horror/uncanny thriller about a woman driving north on a freezing New England night to commit a calculated act of violence while her 19-year-old sister pursues her. East Coast actors, aged 18 and older, are sought for several on-camera and voiceover roles, including the lead role of Lily. Principal photography is targeted for Summer 2027 in Somerville, Lowell, and the Greater Boston, Massachusetts, area. Pay is $150–$1,800 for up to six days of work, with a copy, credit, meals, and local travel/mileage reimbursement provided.

“Somebody’s Gonna Get Hurt” (Working Title) 

Join the cast of a psychological horror film set in western Montana and following the Barnes family, who are coping after a freak accident leaves two young brothers without their mother as increasingly disturbing events occur and suspicion falls on their elderly neighbor. Nationwide actors, aged 9–80, are sought for lead and supporting roles, including three of the Barnes family members and the antagonistic elderly neighbor. Talent will work in Western Montana in December or January. Pay is $256.60 per day for up to 15 days of work.

“Tribute” 

Tribute,” a cyberpunk horror feature about a lonely security guard whose obsession with a cam girl spirals into a violent nightmare, is now casting actors, aged 22–80, for lead and supporting roles, including the starring roles of Daniel and “Lilith.” Filming will take place in Denver, Colorado, over two weeks in late October and November. Pay is $150–$175 per day.

“Backseat” 

A Black male actor, age 18–24, is sought to play a teen whose kindness and willingness to trust strangers puts him in a dangerous situation in “Backseat,” a horror feature film. Filming will take place in Lexington, Kentucky, in September and October. Pay is $834 per day for four days of work.

Thriller Horror Feature Film 

Four Ontario-based actors, aged 25–50, are sought for lead and supporting roles in a thriller/horror feature film set primarily in a house in Oakville. Talent will work in Oakville, dates TBD. Pay is undisclosed, but union actors will be paid under a Tier 2 agreement.

“Mating Season” 

Mating Season,” a horror film, is now casting Florida-based actors, aged 9–69, for various supporting and day player roles. Talent will work in Homestead on Oct. 25–Nov. 12. Pay is $450 per day with travel and meals provided. Accommodations will also be provided for the supporting role.

Cosmic Horror Short Film  

Two Orlando, Florida-based male actors, aged 20–60, are sought for a key supporting role and an additional day-player role in a cosmic horror narrative short film about a rogue detective embarking on a manhunt across state lines and uncovering something darker than expected. Talent will work in October or November. Pay is $150 for the day player and $300 per day for three days of work for the supporting role, with food provided.

“Replay”  

Contradictory Films is continuing its search for talent for “Replay,” a horror film about a group of young adults who go out for a night of partying and are attacked by an unknown virus, killing them one by one. Nationwide actors, aged 21–30, are sought for several lead and supporting roles. Filming dates and locations are TBD. Pay is $125–500 per day for up to five days of work, with travel, meals, copy, and credit provided.

“Area 1” 

RSVP FILMS is now casting “Area 1,” an indie psychological horror feature film. New Mexico-based male actors, aged 25–69, are sought for supporting roles. Principal photography is scheduled for November in Las Cruces. Pay is $300–$350 per day for up to five days of work, with meals provided on shoot days.
