The 76th Primetime Emmys were held Sunday, Sept. 15—just eight months after the 75th awards, which were delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Hosted by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, the ceremony celebrated the year’s best television with a night full of powerful speeches and historic wins.

On the drama side, FX’s “Shōgun” had an extraordinary night. The historical drama took home a grand total of 18 awards off its 25 nominations, including the top prize: Outstanding drama series. Stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai also won outstanding lead actor and lead actress in a drama, respectively, the first time in Emmys history these categories went to Japanese actors.

“‘Shōgun’ taught me when people work together, we can make a miracle, we can create a better future together,” Sanada said in his acceptance speech.

“The Bear” went into the night with 23 nominations. The series won 11—breaking its own record for most wins by a comedy in a single year—including acting victories for Ebon-Moss Bachrach (supporting actor in a comedy series), Jeremy Allen White (lead actor in a comedy series), and Liza Colón-Zayas (supporting actress in a comedy series). But it was “Hacks” that ended the night with a surprise upset in outstanding comedy series, a win to go along with Jean Smart taking home lead actress in a comedy.

“Baby Reindeer” dominated the limited series competition with four wins: Writing and lead actor for Richard Gadd, lead actress for Jessica Gunning, and outstanding limited series.

“Ten years ago I was down and out, I never ever thought I’d get my life together. I never thought I’d be able to rectify myself with what had happened to me and get myself back on my feet again,” said Richard Gadd, who based the Netflix stalking series on his real-life experiences. “Now here I am… No matter how bad it gets, it always gets better. If you’re struggling, keep going.”
