It has been a big year so far for horror movies, and none more so than Curry Barker’s “Obsession,” the supernatural indie horror hit that, since its theatrical release on May 15, has already become the ninth-highest-grossing horror film of all time. While you can still catch the film in some theaters around the country, it’s even easier to fuel your horror obsession since the film’s streaming premiere on Peacock on July 17. “Exemplum”
Ikon Films is now casting “Exemplum,” a psychological horror film following a guarded young woman who takes a routine cat-sitting job for an elderly neighbor, only to discover she is trapped in a dark, generational ritual that forces her into a physical battle for survival. Talent, aged 18 and older, is sought for several roles, including the lead roles of June and Mara. One of the lead roles will require the ability to speak Russian or a Slavic language or be willing/able to learn a few Russian lines. Production is also hiring multiple crew positions, including a director of photography and a costume designer. Filming is scheduled for two weeks in January 2027 in West New York, New Jersey. Pay is $250 per day for actors for up to 12 days of work. Crew will be paid depending on position, ranging from $15–$20 per hour to $250–$550 per day. On-set meals will be provided.

“Imposter”
Join the cast of “Imposter,” a feature horror film following seven cousins who are lured to their family cabin on the eve of a snowstorm to face an incident in their past they’d rather not relive. Midwest actors, aged 28–35, are sought for lead and supporting roles in the film. There will be one rehearsal in Fall 2026, followed by filming at a soundstage in Southern Wisconsin on Jan. 4–22, 2027, followed by five days at an exterior location. Pay is $100–$250 per day for up to 15 days of work, with travel expenses and lodging provided.

“Voice Out”
“Voice Out,” a psycho-horror Western feature about a father-to-be who searches for his vanished father and walks into a cult, is seeking talent, aged 20–99, for several lead and supporting roles. Filming will begin on Sept. 10 in Montana. Pay is $250–$5,000.

“Hellin,” Indie Horror Feature Film
Casting is underway for an indie horror feature film about a former club DJ struggling with addiction and isolation. A female actor, age 26–39, is sought for the starring role. Talent will work in San Diego over weekends between Sept. 12 and Nov. 15. Pay is $3,500 plus an additional deferred payment.

“Gabe”
Lutsko Productions is now casting a Georgia- or Tennessee-based male actor, age 22–80, to play the titular lead role in “Gabe,” a found-footage horror film following a serial stalker. Talent will work in Atlanta and Chattanooga in October or November. Pay is $1,800–$2,400 for six days of work with food and housing provided.

Contradictory Films is continuing its search for talent for “Replay,” a horror film regarding a group of young adults who go out for a night of partying and are attacked by an unknown virus, killing them one by one. Nationwide actors, aged 21–30, are sought for several lead and supporting roles. Filming dates and locations are TBD.
