The Emmy-winning French-Japanese drama “Drops of God” will return to Apple TV on Jan. 21. Starring Fleur Geffrier and Tomohisa Yamashita as Camille Léger and Issei Tomine, respectively, the eight-episode second season will continue to explore their evolving bond (and wine knowledge), with one episode dropping each week until the March 11 finale.
Created by Quoc Dang Tran, “Drops of God” spans the globe, with much of its story set in France and Japan (though Thailand served as a replacement for some Japanese locations on Season 1 due to pandemic-related filming restrictions). Originating in France and Japan, Apple ultimately bought and retains worldwide rights to the series outside of its home countries.

Based on the manga series of the same name by Tadashi Agi (a pseudonym for sibling writers Shin and Yuko Kibayashi), “Drops of God” begins with the death of renowned wine authority Alexandre Léger (Stanley Weber), who leaves behind one of the world’s foremost private wine collections and an expansive Tokyo estate. However, for Camille (Geffrier), Alexandre’s estranged daughter, claiming her inheritance won’t be easy. Before she can enjoy what might seem rightfully hers, she must battle her father’s protégé, Issei (Yamashita), to prove her wine knowledge.
Season 2 picks up three years after the first installment, as Camille and Issei, who’ve developed a sibling-like bond, embark upon an adventure to solve a mystery even Alexandre couldn’t uncover—the origins of the world’s greatest wine.
